Happy goats make happy Goat Milk Soap. Hand milked right on our homestead.

The power to restore

Fresh goat's milk is high in vitamins, minerals, and proteins that nourishes your skin, it's a secret ingredient that not many know about. The skin loving nutrients in Goat Milk is what helps restore your dry and cracked skin. Goat milk is perfect for anyone who wants clean skin without disrupting their acid mantle or natural microbiome. Your acid mantle is a thin film on the surface of your skin that acts as a shield to bacteria and other viral substances. The lactic acids and moisturizing fatty acids found in this sleeper ingredient work together to make it an excellent choice for those with dry and cracked skin.

A simple bar, Powerful results

Our Rare Goat Breed

Our goat milk soap is produced from a rare breed of goats called Nigerian Dwarfs. These goats produce milk with the highest butterfat content of all dairy goats. The fat content comes in between 6%-10% which can be double the amount of fat content in some cases compared to other goat breeds. They also have a superior lipoprotein make up, which enhances the ability to restore your skin.

A great skin protector

In the 1990s, Scientists identified what it was about oatmeal that made it such a great skin protector. Following this great discovery, in 2003 Colloidal oatmeal was approved by the FDA to be used as a skin protectant and is one of the few botanical ingredients considered effective as a skin protectant.

Top Benefits

  • Nigerian Dwarf Goat milk contains high amounts of proteins and fatty acids which help increase collagen production in the body when added to daily skincare routines.
  • Goat milk soap is also a natural moisturizer due to its high levels of vitamin E. This means that it can help soothe and protect dry or irritated skin.
  • Goat milk soap produces natural glycerin that helps keep the skin healthy by moisturizing it while preventing dryness and scaliness.
  • Oat beta-glucan in the colloidal oatmeal serves as a hydrating agent and is capable of reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving overall skin elasticity and promotes tissue healing.
  • Avenanthramides found in oats are a group of antioxidants that serve as a skin protectant and also helps relieve itching, inflammation, and redness.

Enter the Matrix - Understanding your skin

Your skin is your body's largest organ and it protects you from the elements of the environment around you. The stratum corneum (the outermost layer), consists mainly of dead cells with cholesterol collected in their centers to provide strength for protection. These brick-like structures contains an incredibly vital substance called the "lipid matrix". The lipid matrix is like mortar on a brick wall which holds everything together. When this lipid matrix gets broken down, this is what causes dry, cracked, and irritated skin.

In our bar of Oatmeal and Honey Goat Milk Soap, we add colloidal oatmeal because it has been used for centuries to treat skin conditions including eczema, burns and other inflammatory skin issues. Colloidal oatmeal is made by grinding oats very finely, making a powder-like consistency that acts as a moisturizer.

As you cleanse with a bar of our goat's milk soap, it will leave you feeling moisturized and hydrated due to the high butterfat content from our Nigerian Dwarf Goats.

"It is SO good."

One of our customers does not go out of her way to promote a product, but when it's this good, she had to tell everyone about it.

How does a bar of soap not dry her out? It's the magic of the fresh goat's milk from our Nigerian Dwarf goats and the restorative properties of the oils we use to make our goat's milk soaps.

No water dilution
Pure 100% Nigerian Dwarf Goat Milk Soap.

This is not your typical soap that dries your skin, but a bar of full fat goat's milk soap that will nourish and hydrate your skin. We've opted out of using water in our soap recipe, instead we have chosen to make our soaps with only fresh goat's milk because we understand the benefits and effectiveness of the fat content in the milk, and we want you to reap every bit of it.

Cold Process Soap Making

The Formula: Fat + Sodium Hydroxide = Soap

Goat's Milk + Sodium Hydroxide

Every batch of handcrafted goat milk soap starts with our fresh Nigerian Dwarf goat's milk and sodium hydroxide solution. Without sodium hydroxide there is no soap. But there is never any sodium hydroxide left in the final bar of soap after saponification.
This is a delicate process since we don't want to scorch our goat's milk, ruining the beneficial vitamins and minerals in it.

The goat milk and sodium hydroxide solution is then blended with a big tub of oils that include oils such as olive oil, cocoa butter and shea butter. As it blends, the sodium hydroxide solution ultimately "eats" the oils, in a natural chemical reaction called Saponification.

This is known as cold-process soap making, an ancient and traditional way of making soap.

Curing Stage

We then pour the goat milk soap batter into soap molds and leave it overnight to let the saponification process continue. The day after, we cut our soaps into bars and we cure it for a minimum of 6-8 weeks to allow the natural water content in the goat's milk to evaporate, resulting in a harder and longer lasting bar of goat milk soap.

Superfat means super moisturizing

We want to give you the maximum benefits in each bar of soap so we use a process called superfatting. Superfatting is when you use an excess amount of fats which become unsaponifiable because the sodium hydroxide cannot consume this abundance of fats. This means you end up with a bar of soap that is super hydrating.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you really milk your own goats for soap?

Ah, the question of the century. Yes! We have adorable Nigerian Dwarf goats, we milk them daily for Goat Milk Soaps as well as for our family to use. We share videos and pictures of our goats and lifestyle on our Instagram page @edenbodycare
  • Is it safe for babies?

Absolutely, we recommend our Oatmeal and Honey Goat Milk Soap for any baby with eczema prone skin. Our Oatmeal and Honey Goat Milk Soaps are gentle, moisturizing and left unscented to suit the most dry and sensitive skin types.
  • How is this soap better than normal soap you get from any store?

Most soaps you will find in the store is made with water. As you know, water dilutes everything. We use 100% Nigerian Dwarf Goat's Milk in our goat milk soaps which makes each bar filled with vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids.
  • Does the soap make bubbles or sud up?

Absolutely! Without suds or bubbles, a bar of soap is not true soap. Our soaps have amazing lather power and will make bubbles to effectively cleanse you.
  • I am lactose intolerant, can I still use your goat milk soaps?

In general, yes you can. Goat's milk enzymes in the soap do not enter your intestinal tract. However, we suggest you try it on a small patch of skin. We include more information in our blog named "Goat Milk Soap Benefits."
  • Will the soap wash germs off my hands?

Germs and viruses are like tiny grease balls. When you mix soap with water together it causes these soap molecules to start emulsifying and mixing with the oils, then it starts pulling things apart. This is how soap works! We go into more details in our blog named "Wash your hands to fight viruses"
  • What's the best way to store bar soaps?

We personally use soap dishes with holes in them so the bar of soap can drain off after use. We suggest after lathering up with a bar of soap, that you rinse it off and store them on something away from water. That way your bar of soap will last longer. For more information, check out our blog post "How to store bar soap"
  • Will my bar of soap look exactly like the photos?

Each and every bar of soap and product is handmade by our family. Every bar will come out slightly different, with different swirls in different places, unique in its own way. This is our signature of handmade. We do not guarantee every bar will look like a replica of the photos, but will be very close.
